Apparently, it will never end.

I have just spent hours going through my blog comments.  First, I want to thank everyone who had the courage to comment.  Second, I want to apologize to so many who sent a comment to which I did not respond.  Originally, I was not going to accept any comments.  I really didn’t care what others thought–this was about my experience with this nightmare. I settled on a system where I have to “approve” a comment.  Trust me, that helped all of us.  It’s why I don’t accept calls from unknown numbers.  Life it too short, and some people are too horrible.  Also, it gives me the ability to receive information marked “do not publish” and to obscure/edit the names/emails of people who I know might be subject to being hassled.

For a long, long time, my life was in a place where literally all I could do is hit “approve” to your comment.  I couldn’t respond.  Seriously.  You wouldn’t understand unless you suffer from PTSD.  Most of the time, all is relatively good.  But shit like this can grab you like a shark from down below.  You are just swimming along . . . and then . . . you are fucked.  I know, you might think that only happens to 18-year-olds stuck in some fire-fight in Viet Nam, but try spending a week with cops living with you 24/7 for 6 days while your brother is missing when pedophile/killers are on the loose in a county in Michigan where they can’t get their shit together to make an arrest for 13 months–OR EVER.  Then try spending the rest of your life without anyone acknowledging what you went through and then suffering though the cops needing your “input.”  This our personal Viet Nam.  Then try being cast as total assholes by law enforcement for asking questions and demanding answers.  I try not to be a hater, but it takes so much effort.

One of the common themes of comments and emails I have received over the years is “Your anger is justified.” YA THINK???  HEY, LAW ENFORCEMENT–READ THIS ENTIRE BLOG, ESPECIALLY THE COMMENTS!!!  A LOT OF THESE PEOPLE WENT TO THE COPS AND WERE BLOWN OFF!!!  You are just getting around to this?  Seriously?!

I was thinking the other night, after emails from someone who was ignored by the police back in the day:  After everything all of us have been through–the families of the OCCK and other child victims from back in the heyday of child pornography and murder–can’t we just have the truth?  THE FUCKING TRUTH, YOU DIRTY BASTARDS??  Apparently, that is asking too much.

I believe some in law enforcement decided back in the day that they knew better than we did.  That they were going to take care of business. That justice couldn’t be served up in Oakland County and fuck all the rest of you.  No more kids go missing and you families can just eat it for the rest of your lives.  Yeah, you guys with your combined IQ of 110.  Nice work. That was back in the day when these guys literally got away with a lot of shit, including murder.  Power of the badge–maybe even especially in the suburbs, where y’all wanted to feel extra safe.

Email me at catherine.broad@yahoo.com if you have information, even if the cops blew you off.  I will make it public if you want.  If you want it kept in confidence, I will honor that.  I have my mojo back.  Let’s go.

Books area on the horizon.  They will have biases, as you can imagine.  Think about setting a Google Alert for Oakland County Child Killer.  That should do it.  If you want a copy of Decades of Deceit, send check for $20 to The Tim King Fund (benefits abused children) to 1509 Yorkshire Road, Birmingham,  MI, 48009.  If you can’t afford, please email me at catherine.broad@yahoo.com.  I will make sure you get a copy.

Again, to all of you who sent comments, even if I disagree with you, thank you for stepping up.  To those of you who need to read this entire blog–mostly the comments–get started.

  1. Have been and still will follow your blog.
So glad you got your spunk back.
I have never lost it .. justice !!
Shaking my head this is been nothing but bullshit for your family .
Lets keep moving towards the truth ..
Will we ever find out the truth?
    YES!!
Have faith and keep it going . 😎
    God bless

  2. Kathy – so glad your fighting spirit is back. My check for your book is on the way, and my support has always been here!

      1. Is the dvd set new Cathy? I bought one a few years back about the frustrating experience you and your family had in getting solid info from the law. PS – I hope your dad is holding up well.

  3. Tell you what, people who want to blow off Pizzagate as just another rightwing conspiracy fail to consider Epstein, North Fox Island, Corey Feldman’s Hollywood revelations, etc. These Eyes Wide Shut motherfuckers all have some strange proclivities.
But fear not. Whoopi Goldberg and her ilk have justified it.

  4. Stuck on stupid is an epidemic in this country of which this is the worst possible example. Your family has born this personal Vietnam with uncommon grace and extraordinary persistence. No one can say that they know how you feel…..they can’t possibly imagine what it is like to butt your head up against a brick wall of indifference for so many years just trying to get some answers. The evil the indifference and corruption within the justice system is appalling. Glad to hear you put into words what you have been feeling for so long. I stand with you all the way.

  5. Is your sub-Reddit open to discussions or just posting articles. Great job btw.

Cathy, Reddit is a great vehicle, it provides a forum for discussion and sharing info and there’s zero chance of crazy people getting in and posting insane shit to distract everyone or push their bizarre pet theories. It is heavily moderated and the community has the ability to downvote crazies. It’s also a great place for visibility- unlike any other forum. You get cross traffic from throughout the site.

One good example is the EAR-ONS cold case out of California, surviving relatives post frequently on a dedicated sub-Reddit and it has a devoted community.

Cathy, thank you for writing. I love your writing style and look forward to it every time I get an alert about a new post on this blog. I can’t imagine how difficult it is- but please know there are people with no link to this case, but who care deeply about it because of your words.

And yes, regarding PTSD. When I first read an account of the days following Tim’s disappearance, all I could think about was how that must have impacted 3 teenagers. And then I marveled at who you and your brothers have become, your parents must be incredible people.

    1. JK I run the subreddit on OCCK, however I would gladly share moderator status with Cathy if she would like! You can post anything you like as long as it is related to OCCK or the bastard of North Fox Island. I agree, reddit has been a great platform for the case. However I know to come here, always, for what is new.

      1. Thanks for the reply! Reddit is a great platform, and this case is a perfect example of why forums like Topix suck. I also come here to learn what is new, and also for Cathy’s writing. 🙂

  6. Sending check, today. As you know, I was just supporting a friend, even though I did not know how to. Officer St. and Gr. seemed to be transparent, in our dealings; I sure hope they were. All my support and best wishes. I do think of Tim, more than you know.

  7. I just discovered a couple years ago, the travesty of justice that has happened in this case. Such betrayal. I am so very sorry for you and your family, as well as the other children and their families who were victims in this. I remember them. I pray you somehow get the truth, in your father’s lifetime. I was a child of 7, living in Clawson at this time, living in fear everyday, even having been followed and approached by a car myself. This case has never left me. It never will.

    1. Thank you, 7. It is truly crazy how vulnerable kids were in this and neighboring counties back in the day. So many stories of attempted abductions, indecent exposure and worse. Betrayal is the right word. Why should family members of victims have been put in the position of fighting to get leads taken seriously after being kept in the dark for 30 years? That’s what a cover-up does for you. I don’t care how law enforcement (including prosecuting attorneys and judges) thought they were taking care of business in the most expedient way in the wake of these abductions and murders, the fact is that their behavior did not bring any justice or any sort of “closure” and set people up for exactly what happened here when the ugly truth started bubbling to the surface. It is, like the crimes themselves, unforgivable. I got an email from a friend of Tim’s this weekend. He described still being messed up, all these years later, by what happened to Tim. Like I said–unforgivable.
