An investigation by The New York Times took a deep look into the disturbing and horrifying explosion of pictures online of children being sexually abused. This investigation found an insatiable criminal underworld that had exploited the flawed and insufficient efforts to contain the sick and twisted adults who post and seek out images and videos of children being tortured, raped and assaulted.
In 1998, there were over 3,000 reports of child sexual abuse imagery online. In 2018, there were 18.4 million such reports, including over 45 million images and videos flagged as child sexual abuse. “Law enforcement agencies devoted to the problem were left understaffed and underfunded even as they were asked to handle far larger caseloads.”
“[I]nstead of trying to crack down on this horrific epidemic, many people just choose to look the other way:
Some state lawmakers, judges and members of Congress have refused to discuss the problem in detail, or have avoided attending meetings and hearings when it was on the agenda, according to interviews with law enforcement officials and victims.

I think of people who knew or suspected what Frank Shelden and Gerald Richards were up to in the 1970’s and said nothing, and what neighbors of Chris Busch knew and kept to themselves. Good God! I’ve been snowed into thinking LE at least at the federal level had the upper hand on tracking down and stopping the spread of this crap online. Instead, it’s quite the opposite. So that’s it? Look the other way, because the task of saving America’s children from this sick sh!t is just not possible? What has become of us? I can not feel anything but hopelessness for their futures.

Jeffrey Epstein’s time there Michigan’s Interlochen arts school would be informative if could find any connections to Fox Island about that time or a little before. (ca 1967) He was only 14 but later donated funds to a rental lodge on the woodsy northern Michigan campus, Although I do believe the school stopped accepting his donations when this all blew up.
A reader informed me that in 2018 there were 18.4 million child exploitation reports (not including missing children) made to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. In 2013 there were 500,000 reports. And these are just reports with NCMEC, not other agencies. Federal convictions of these monsters has not increased much over the years in spite of the massive increase in reports. And state convictions probably less so. As the reader observed, if these were growing consumer product complaints or even animal abuse, there would be public uproar. But not with child abuse or child porn.
The stats on this is just beyond any way to describe.
