Recollections

In May 2020 I posted a NYT article written by author Megan Abbott as part of The New York Times True Crime storytelling project. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/01/us/oakland-county-child-killer-detroit-true-crime.html (contains reader comments). Scanned version:

I took a screen shot of one of the reader comments because it really spoke to me. I found it on my phone last week and post it here, along with two other comments from NYT readers:

    1. Cathy, thank you for resharing the comments. The poking and prodding will not cease. We will do what we can, and eventually the truth will prevail. It will.

It will because most people are generally and essentially good. Deep down most of us want to do the right thing in life. We want to be good and helpful, and when push comes to shove, we will be. The rest be damned.

  1. Thank you for sharing these recollections. It was, and still is a terrible memory for so many families. I deal with my memories every day. I hope someday there will be answers to all the questions that have gone unanswered.

  2. Yes, I remember too. I was 11 going to Beverly Middle School. We could no longer walk back and forth to school. My mother lived in terror that something terrible would happen to us. A lot of us remember
