Here is a federal judge who understands the gravity of sex offenses. In sentencing a POS pedophile sex offender this week, Federal Judge Jane Beckering explained: “This is, absent murder, probably the most traumatizing thing you can do to a human being, especially a minor.”
I don’t know what you do with these types. They reoffend at an astonishing rate and appear not to “age out,” continuing their crimes in their last decades of life. He should have gotten 27 years the first time he sexually assaulted a child, rather than given parole after serving less than four years in a Michigan state prison.
I can’t help but compare this 27 year sentence to the sentence given defrocked priest Gary Berthiaume, who served less than 14 months for his sexual assaults on minors. He was sentenced in January 2022. He is a free man.
The man had a prior record, having been convicted in Oakland County in 1977 and sentenced to SIX MONTHS IN JAIL for sexually assaulting young parishioners at Our Lady of Sorrows in Farmington. The Catholic church paid out at least one civil settlement along the way to one of this man’s victims. The church did what it always does, and moved this freak to out-of-state parishes. Moving target.
FOURTEEN MONTHS. Fourteen months is laughable in the face of the life sentences he inflicted on his victims. He’s out on parole, almost 83. Think he’ll quit what he has been doing for 50 years (or more)? Would any of the attorneys or the judge present at sentencing leave a young male relative alone for even a minute with this guy?
I checked back on “hockey doc,” Farmington Hills urologist Zvi Levran, who was charged in late 2022 with multiple counts of CSC3 and 4; multiple accusers, all connected with youth and school hockey programs. https://www.hometownlife.com/story/news/2023/01/11/farmington-hills-hockey-doc-pleads-not-guilty-to-csc-changes/69798710007/. His case has not gone to trial yet. The guy is 66 years old and has been the “hockey doc” in the area for some 20 years.
I read a few articles online and it appears he will be using the “urologist defense”–hey, I touch penises; that’s what I do. Yeah well, old man, seems to me the hockey doc ought to have more of an orthopedic bent, aye? But I’m guessing his caseload of problem-prostate and ED patients just wasn’t cutting it in the job satisfaction department. Branch out to help the youth hockey leagues; that’s the ticket!
