Some weeks it seems like I could post two stories a day about these criminals. This registered sex offender was previously convicted on child pornography (CSAM–child sexual abuse materials) charges. Until prosecutors and judges start understanding that CSAM defendants are not harmless losers sitting in their homes on their computers, but ticking time bombs, we will continue to see more of these crimes. Surely they understand by now that online CSAM is not some victimless crime. The age range of these offenders gives you some sense of how widespread the crimes are and proves they never, ever age out. They never get “too old” to worry about (or too old to deserve a shortened sentence due to age). Prosecutors should not be offering up plea agreements in CSC cases like they do in other cases. Make those “aggressive” CSC criminal defense attorneys earn their fees, unless you want that defendant to escalate the next time around. Don’t talk about protecting kids and then protect these freaks instead.
I agree. I see so many of these stories in the local news. And these are just the stories that made the news. So many are not reported by victims, or covered up by cities that do not wish to associate this kind of news with their city.
Interesting also that this story is in the same court where Gunnels did not appear last month, and a bench warrant was issued.
