Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald announces run for Michigan Attorney General
The current AG, Dana Nessel, is term-limited and cannot run for reelection.
This is a big loss for my family, as Prosecutor McDonald’s office has been assisting my family with the intractable Michigan State Police. It is still like pulling teeth, and we go to the bottom of the list every few weeks, but Karen McDonald has been the only legitimate prosecutor leading that office in 50 years if you ask me. (And I know most of you won’t.) Furthermore, that office needs someone who can stand up to the eternal sheriff in that county and some of the shitty judges there. (Pay attention, voters!!)
As we near the first of four 50-year anniversaries of failures and cover-up in the OCCK case, the need for pressure and action has truly turned to a now-or-never situation. There are quite a few people still alive and family members of those who have died who are still safely hoping for “never.” Nobody affiliated with this case has any answers, just taxpayer-funded speculation, and short of a DNA hit of some kind, they never will.
Who knows what candidates will emerge to run for OCP in light of this announcement or where things will settle out. I just know that family members of a murdered kid and prosecutors who have a full, active caseload should not have to consistently beg the MSP and the state lab to do their jobs. Half-way isn’t good enough, not by a long-shot–but half-way is apparently all we can hope for at this point.

The state police report to the governor of Michigan. No one seems to know what to do with this agency. How those four murdered children’s cases ended up locked away in MSP files is a compounding tragedy.
Know this: You do not want to fall between the cracks in the Michigan “justice” system.
