The Freedom of Information Act in practice, Part I.

This is the stack of pleadings in my dad’s Freedom of Information Act proceedings against the Michigan State Police (MSP) and the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office (OCP). Mostly the OCP, because the MSP “settled” and, after receiving over $11,000 from my dad, handed over some 3,000 pages of documents which are all posted on my blog.

The OCP, Jessica Cooper and Paul Walton specifically, fought my dad tooth and nail, successfully arguing to Oakland County court and the Michigan appellate courts that the investigation was ongoing. Ongoing rot is more like it.

My dad had to retain outside counsel to represent him against Cooper, as his old law firm does a lot of work for Oakland County. Any piece of paper touched by an attorney costs a lot of money. And that is a very big stack of pleadings.

I’ve written about the FOIA subterfuge in this case so many times, including:

Because beating a dead horse and begging somebody to do their goddamn job with the DNA evidence is all I can do with the OCP and the MSP, keep in mind that no one ever investigated the shredding of documents that was taking place in Jessica Cooper’s office after the November 3, 2020 election. A whistleblower notified two prosecutors that they believed the documents being shredded included those from the OCCK case. The AG’s office was consulted. This shred would hardly be surprising, given the prior illegal transfer of files to the OC sheriff’s office to thwart FOIA laws.

As the 50th anniversary of the abduction of Mark Stebbins looms in six months (February 16, 2026), questions about the actions of prosecutors in this case over the decades and this massively failed investigation should be the focus. We all know the story of how Larry Wasser fucked up and spilled the beans about Chris Busch. It was epic synchronicity on so many levels, but it hit the inevitable OCCK brick wall. Nothing to see here. The story is what went on to keep that shit under wraps for 30-plus years and why there is nothing to show for the additional 20 years after Busch’s name managed to rise to the top of the sewer. There’s your 50 years. What the fuck? Busch crossed paths with many pedophiles in his 27 years. No one connected any dots.

Somebody comes forward after 50 years and says Jimmy Hoffa’s body was put through a meat grinder. (Can we stop glamorizing the mob?? Who does this shit??). How about a cop, investigator or FBI agent who knows what happened back in the day to throw this investigation steps up and tells the truth after 50 fucking years? How about someone who investigated Busch for crimes related to N. Fox and Frank Shelden comes clean?

Part II will be a brief recap of the documents contained in the MSP FOIA response and how two READERS of my blog (not law enforcement, not me, not anyone in my family, not anyone we provided the documents to before I posted them online) found two now-obvious instances of obstruction of justice in this case.

If you think the documents in the Epstein case, even the shitty binder of redacted and already public documents provided by Pam Bondi at her strange press conference don’t contain important information–think again. Although much has been mangled, redacted, lost or disappeared in the never-digitized clusterfuck of files in the OCCK case, what we have seen is bad enough. THAT is the story for your 50-year piece.

And while you’re at it, ask Sheriff Mike Bouchard about his use of volunteer retired detectives and prosecutors to address cold cases, including the OCCK case. Who are they and are they sharing information with the prosecutor, the MSP and the state lab? What documents are they consulting? Is this a method to protect documents from FOIA requests–because they are not paid employees? What have they done on this case and why are they operating in the dark?
