The Odyssey Foundation

Has anyone ever viewed or know the background on a 1973 documentary called “The Odyssey Foundation”?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt39163329/

It may have originally aired on WTNH (News 8, an ABC affiliate in New Haven, CT) or WFAA (ABC affiliate in Dallas-Fort Worth) back in the day.

AI answer:

“As this is an archival 1973 television production, it is not currently available on major streaming platforms like Netflix, Hulu, or Prime Video. It may occasionally surface on niche crime documentary archives or specialized YouTube channels.”

Has anyone come across it?

  1. I’ve not seen it in its entirety (just a clip or two), but I understand that it’s a locally produced (i.e. TX) documentary on John David Norman who set up the Odyssey Foundation to sex traffic boys to interested men. Dean Corll, who murdered all those boys in TX was apparently involved; allegedly John Wayne Gacy was as well. Norman actually continued to run it, and his porn business, out of the Cook Co. jail after he was arrested in Chicago. Michael Sneed’s Chicago Tribune series in the 70s mentions him. Norman was also involved with the Delta Project. I think it was discussed in the more recent doc about Gary: The Clown and the Candy Man (not sure of the title).

  2. Hi Cathy,

No, but checking YouTube there are a lot of related videos and even a couple featuring John Norman, a performer in the doc, discussing Fox Island. I was from the greater New Haven area years ago so I shot out an email to them. I doubt they’ll know now but if something comes of it I’ll report back.

I have a question for you and your readers:

There was a strange video or series of videos on this subject I found on YouTube back when I first started reading about this mess, say eight years ago. It was a long interview with the ex-wife of a military officer, branch unknown, talking frankly about SA and worse in the military. Her name MAY have been “Gaye” and I don’t think her husband was the infamous Michael Aquino, though it’s possible. She was middle-aged, wore her hair in a bob and I think had dirty blonde locks. The upload(s) were old then, going back to the launch of YouTube and the source material were old VHS tapes cobbled together, so the date of actual filming could be from The 1980s. It’s very possible the subject was The Tailhook Scandal. Very spotty memory of it because I saw a good chunk of it late at night and fell asleep. Very unsettling. Very much Qanon territory which is why I slagged it off at the time. Not anymore.

I tried looking for it again and it appears to have been scrubbed. If so, the timing isn’t a coincidence. Does anybody know what I’m blathering about?

The reason I’m looking for it is because it’s possible there are clues to other cases within.

Crouch: I also contacted NM Rep Stansbury in addition to state rep Romero. Since The Epstein Case appears to be coming to a head, it’s now or never. MAYBE, just maybe, there’s something in this for the families of the OCCK.

    1. I don’t have an answer for you other than I do remember something else on a smaller scale than Tailhook or maybe it was the story that started Tailhook.

A question for you, there are many connections to Frank Shelden in New Haven. He went to Yale so that makes sense. But there are some men who he remained connected to/friends with/associated with that appear in 1940s/50s new articles. Shelden played in musical ensembles/duos/recitals in New Haven.

Of course I don’t have my crazy tin foil hat notebook with me to refer to those names. If you know about any New Haven men (most likely dead now) and FDS or anything at all, can you share here?

Or email me (unless that’s a no-no), I’ll defer to Cathy on that. I’ve been all around the internet and some sites don’t want people jamming up comments with email addys.

    1. wow…just blocks from where i used to live, who knew (glad i was ignorant?) thanks for the history lesson
