With John Hastings and Paul Johnson there’s something uncanny about the pattern they share in going from clean-cut Bloomfield boys of privilege to psychiatrically unstable weirdos in no time. Like they both got under the influence of something that didn’t just turn them evil and violent like Busch and Green, but clinically insane.
Hastings was a graduate of Brother Rice High School in Bloomfield, Michigan. Johnson attended Brother Rice in 1970 and 1971, but transferred to Seaholm High School in Birmingham in 1972 (apparently did not graduate).

John Hastings ’67 did receive his GED from elsewhere than Brother Rice but is considered a graduate of the school. He left Rice soon after Anthony Morrison “fell” off the water tower across the street from the Hastings house. Both John and his brother Tom were with Morrison at the time.
I don’t think Paul Johnson had anything to do with the OCCK killings. The composite indicated blue eyes and Johnson had brown eyes. FWIW – so does Gregory Greene. Hastings has blue eyes.
I go back to witness’ Doug Wilson’s influenced composites from Hunter-Maple Drugs and think that both John Hastings and Officer Richard McNamee are the two faces Wilson saw. Can anyone contact Wilson for verification of these guys???
Funny how McNamee was the first on the scene for Chris Busch’s supposed suicide. I could go on and on but John Hastings and the late Bloomfield Village police office Richard McNamee are your suspects; especially for Timothy King.
I think you meant to say Anthony Mitchell, not Anthony Morrison. Unless you are referring to another name he may have been known as. I believe that name was Anthony Crocker. Correct me if I am wrong. I’m sure you know more about the history in this neighborhood than I do.
I never knew Hastings got a GED. If Hastings did get his GED, then both Hastings and Johnson both obtained a GED. BLK01924 indicated Hastings was a graduate of Brother Rice, but again, you may know the details better. Johnson got his GED in 1975
So many other similarities with Johnson and Hastings, who were 7 years apart. Both I believe went to grade school at Holy Name. Johnson attended Brother Rice (1970 & 1971), and Seaholm (1972 & 1973). Johnson went to Oakland Community College in 1975 and 1976. Hastings graduated OCC in Liberal Arts in 1972 (BLK01924). Johnson attended Lawrence Institute from 1976 to 1981 in engineering. Hastings attended the same for one year for architecture (BLK01924).
Someone mentioned (maybe you) that Hastings was a frequent visitor at the Eton Ice Arena in Birmingham. Tip 5204-TK was created 3/26/1977 on information received by an Eton Ice Arena employee who said Johnson looked like the composite drawing.

McNamee was not ” first on the scene”, in fact by the time he found the body three days after his murder, his extesive collection of child snuff films had already been delivered, along with the art guy”s child porn, back to Sheldon in South Carolina.

Agree 100%. Hastings & McNamee should be investigated thoroughly along with their connection to Busch. The Doug Wilson sketches although hidden from the public all those years, shows a remarkable match to both suspects. My records show Anthony Mitchell was the one murdered at the water tower so somehow Morrison name got mixed? The problem with all of this is that Bouchard doesn’t believe there is any signs of a cover up in regards to OCCK case and he actually believes AI is going to somehow solve the case. That alone shows no hope of ever solving this case as the blind will never see the light of day. With a very suspicious polygraph test still missing along with all traces of it with no explanation after all of these years shows how pathetic this case has been! And when the latest OCCK book is highly praised although it doesn’t even cover such matters, what the use anymore? There really isn’t any use to discuss it any further.
I agree; there literally is (next to) no hope. For starters, and as a show of good faith, the sheriff could have his detective pick up the phone and call Georgia polygrapher Steve Duncan (Georgia Public Safety) and ask him about the polygraphs administered to the still-living John Hastings in 2009. Easy start. The guy is STILL ALIVE. Except that Hastings is too close to the Busch family and the Busch family is too close to the corruption in this case.
I don’t know what Bouchard is talking about evidence-wise; the state lab (as of two weeks ago) is not in contact with, nor does it answer to him. If HIS OFFICE has evidence, it has been withheld and needs to be processed immediately.
The evidence with the state police includes hair evidence (don’t get your hopes up), a vaginal swab and the kids’ clothing. The state has shown no interest in releasing the vast amount of DNA data they have from running the hair in 2009. They only tested the hairs against 16 or so known suspects. They are unable to explain to me why the vast files that must exist on the hairs that were tested cannot be analyzed by a genetic genealogist willing to spend the time to evaluate it. There is more information there beyond their little chart comparing DNA of the known suspects.
In the ensuing 18 years, the hair evidence has done nothing but degrade further. As I said, don’t get excited over the hair evidence.
The Y-str sample found from a vaginal swab in Kristine’s case. No one will answer for this evidence. It was looked at in 2022 by Identifinders, a third party lab, who got very preliminary data but explained additional testing would be needed to try to develop a better sample. This additional testing was refused. I was told that more recently a genetic genealogist from the FBI was evaluating this report and the sample. Can’t get a straight answer about why this project was dropped or if the FBI is hanging on to that sample. I was told there is some question about the conclusions reached by Identifinders. SO INFORM THE PUBLIC ABOUT STEPS TAKEN. NO ONE IS AFRAID OF BEING ARRESTED IN THIS CASE. These people are still so gaslighting all of us. It’s outrageous!
The kids’ clothing. In the possession of the MSP, not the sheriff’s office. The state steadfastly refuses to discuss retesting the kids’ clothing–even their underwear. They owe the families and the public an explanation about why this is the case. They are being rewarded for their misfeasance in handling the evidence that was left in their possession in an unsolved serial homicide of four kids. How can they not retest? God only knows how any of the evidence was stored in this case, even after they were on notice that new technology was happening at exponential rates.
They expect this all to blow over again and they will never explain how, when a case is handed over to the state police and the FBI and a sheriff’s office is involved, no one can account for jack shit. I hate to say it, but if you knew what I know, you would be screaming at the top of your lungs, too.
If Sheriff Bouchard can press the state lab to hand this over to a third-party lab for further evaluation, please do so. Stop talking about DNA testing like you are just learning of the possibilities, FFS. Cory Williams’ file notes confirm that I approached the task force in 2019 about Astrea Forensics and the work being done with degraded hair evidence.
Doug Wilson. Exhibit A for my contention that the FBI is dirty in this case. Kept that shit on the down low and told him to keep his mouth shut about what he saw so as “not to let the killer know what we know.”
And the biggest problem of all? Sheriff Bouchard can say all the right things on camera all day long. But I know that if it comes down to Tim King versus Brooks Patterson, he will pick Patterson and his beloved Oakland County. Because Patterson picked predators over kids and my brother wound up dead because of it.
There’s no question about the similarities between Hastings and Johnson. Both were society rejects. Both girly boys. Both went to Brother Rice. Both fit Doug Wilson’s composites from Timmy Kings abduction.
Our friend “ detective Johnny Taylor” was convinced that Paul Johnson was the guy. I remember as a kid Johnny talking to my father about how Johnson’s mother worked at Beaumont hospital and he had access to body cleaners. He also talked about how he visited Johnson at Clinton Valley mental hospital and told him that he knew he was guilty and he would get him before he died. Unfortunately Johnny passed away. From my understanding Johnson passed a few years back.
I personally feel it was Hastings that was at Hunter Maple that evening along with officer Friendly McNamee. I feel it was Haystack that bumped into Polly Coltman early in the day at Hunter Maple. Unfortunately she’ didn’t see any photos of Haystack. Haystacks own girl friend “ Sylvia” even thought he could have been the killer. Pretty odd she found a manicure set and adult paraphernalia which are mostly used by females. Unfortunately Sylvia is no longer with us. Hastings timeline is drawing ni . He’s alive in a suburb of Atlanta . His siblings most likely sister Mary or brother Tom knows.
Thank you for this post as it strengthens my own opinions on another case, actually a few, dealing with a suspect who has been convicted in a 1991 kidnapping of a woman and sadistic rape -days, and with her child present. That case was known as the Sex Slave case in Lyndon Station. The convicted, Joseph Schmidt, was og from IL – Rogers Park/Chicago/NW Burbs and a little while around River forest area (I believe) – In 73 it shows him a freshman at Bro Rice in IL – then same pattern, transferred to other schools in the area, public. He was known to go back and forth between IL and WI and then his parents moved to WI sometime around or after he has been picked up in the late 70s with someone else, and accused of holding two teen girls for sometime in an apt – they were allowed free, but one of the girls wouldn’t allow her to testify (I am told) and the charges were dropped. HIs parents and brother show up on a 1950s census in the same small4 unit bldg in Chicago with the relative, Uncle-I believe, of another murder victim, this one in IL. -Lorraine Bieze..disappeared and dumped in a forest preserve by railroad tracks-SA. So the families obviously knew one another.
