  1. Lake Forest is a Birmingham-Bloomfield Hills. He has lots of $$. Due to his age I’m sure many of the charges will be pled down. Shame on the judges and prosecutors who are too f..g lazy to throw him in GP for at least 20 yrs.

    1. “Defense attorneys representing said their client has ‘basically flawless background’ in criminal history and said he does not pose a real and present danger to others, adding that Abendshien is a fiction author and the essays prosecutors referenced had not been accessed in over 10 years.”

“[Judge] Simonian said in his reasoning for releasing Abendshien pending trial was that he was taking into account the defendant’s age, lack of criminal history and the report that the essays mentioned by prosecutors had not been accessed in over a decade.”

A couple of observations. Lots of CSAM users don’t have a criminal record. This blog alone contains many examples of previously believed-to-be upstanding, model citizen, white collar men who have been credibly accused and convicted of CSAM and/or sex crimes.

And the age thing! Jesus christ, no slack for the oldsters, FFS. This just means it took decades to catch up to an old man or an old priest. They are emboldened by decades of criming with impunity. How many examples do judges need to realize pedophiles and CSAM users never age out? It’s kind of like drunk drivers–how many thousands of times did they drive drunk before they got pulled over?

Wealthy defendants have very strong legal teams working on their defense. Men and women who have probably rubbed elbows with all the judges in the county for many years. Sure, your honor, he will show up for all hearings and trial. You have our word.

Writing that evil shit–that he hasn’t “accessed” (??) in a decade but penned himself from his own fantasy world–again, if this was some poor, POC defendant the odds are these writings would have been a big problem for him.

Just this week a reader reminded me of the October 1978 arrest of alleged author/researcher, MSP Det. Sgt. Gary Schaffer (Schafer, Schaefer–press is inconsistent), for kidnapping a 20-year-old woman by gunpoint in the Northpoint Mall parking lot.  He pushed her on to floor of his car and tied her with zip ties, drove her across the street, parked, and told her he was writing a book about kidnapping and asked her why she allowed him to grab her. He then drove back to the parking lot, cut the zip ties, and let her go. He was arrested while still sitting in the parking lot.

The reader observed that aside from this being just plain weird, his case was referred to the OCCK Task Force.  Why, we wondered?  Predictably, not a single thing appears in the press after that initial report.

Thanks for catching the article about Abendshein’s release pending trial. Maybe his attorneys can expedite law enforcement’s search of his devices and they can all be returned to him quickly so he can write new fiction stories. Maybe one about an old man who just happened to keep 100 images of nude children, ages 7-10, other images of children between the ages of 4 and 15 years old in various stages of undress, as well as a photo of a child on a table in a morgue and images of dismembered women. Maybe it was all background investigation for a new book.

  2. I tried to post. Unrelated to this, there was a recent guy in Detroit who was busted with over 30, 000 images of CSAM. He got out on a $10, 000 bond.
