The Forever Children of Oakland County

I love that Eddie White is keeping the spotlight on the unsolved Oakland County child killings. While Oakland County and the Michigan State Police did everything they could to keep the communities and the state from asking any questions and controlling the narrative for over four decades, squelching inquiry and making it impossible to close these cases, every generation needs to know how these abductions and murders continued to happen, and why they were never solved. There has never been transparency in this case, so good for podcasters and the press for making people think.

  1. I am very frustrated with this case. I am a counselor and about two years ago I had a client who was the living victim of a prime suspect in this case. He saw your brother, Timothy, he held your brother’s toy soldiers, he was a victim of sexual abuse by this suspect, We called and reported this information. Police, detectives, FBI, editor of a book written about this case. No one returned phone calls. Everyone said the case was being held up at Michigan

  2. Michigan State level. We never understood why you, Catherine, didn’t receive or respond to this information.

    1. I believe you are referring to a living victim of Arch Sloan. It was more like five years ago. If I am incorrect in my assumption about Sloan, let me know. The publisher you refer to was kind enough to speak with your client–at length and maybe more than once–and he did so on my behalf because I was not in a good place to speak to a living victim at that time. As a counselor, perhaps you have some idea of how that might be the case. After the discussion(s), the publisher and I contacted the one LE contact we had who would speak to us. All of the information was turned over to him and we lobbied for further investigation. The investigator concluded that the mother, whom he had interviewed previously in the Sloan investigation, had lied to him and this was considered significant. He was going to circle back to her. Did he? Yeah, turns out the cops don’t report back to me. He may have even spoken to your client on more than one occasion.

Sloan groomed women with young boys and had a few beards around to help facilitate a more “normal” appearance in society. One of his victims was a co-worker’s son. I don’t recall that your client said he saw Tim or that he was told toy soldiers he was given were my brother’s. But trust me when I say that the publisher and I were both very concerned about your client and that the publisher passed on all of the information your client conveyed. We (the publisher and I) did everything we could. Maybe that will help your understanding.
