Downen discusses how victims of SBC clergy sexual abuse have been revictimized by the very people who were supposed to help and support them. The SBC considered sexual abuse by clergy a “distraction” from their evangelicalism. Somehow they are apparently still entitled to their gift of eternal salvation, even as they look away from victims of clergy sex crimes and the institutional protection of these predators. There is no hypocrite quite like a religious hypocrite.
