We’ve seen this guy’s ugly mug before in coverage after his arrest in July 2022 for the vicious murder of a 19-year-old woman in 1975. He is expected to plead guilty next week. Consider the extensive use of multiple third-party DNA labs in this case to accomplish the arrest and facilitate a guilty plea, as described in this update article:
Law enforcement used Parabon NanoLabs to develop a composite sketch of the suspect in based on a DNA profile it compiled from evidence collected at the scene in 1975. They later used Parabon to proceed with genetic genealogy analysis and research.
After this man was determined to be a person of interest, law enforcement used DNA Labs International to test DNA from a coffee cup he discarded. This DNA was further tested by Cybergenetics, a Pittsburgh-based laboratory that specializes in separating DNA mixtures.
After consulting with a blood spatter expert, blood evidence from the victim’s clothing was then tested by DNA Labs and also determined to have been left by the suspect.
Notably absent from the description of the comprehensive DNA testing in this 1975 cold case was any pissing and moaning by law enforcement about expense or hassle.
