Cathy posted last month on Ken Roger Davies. This guy was busted in West Bloomfield , Michigan (rich people ville) for child porn. However, he does not look well heeled. Judge (Oakland County) ordered a psych eval. He may get 7 days !!!!!!!!!!

The article states a deal was made by the prosecutor. I assume the prosecutor agreed to the 6 days (waived) and 3 years probation. Or was it left entirely up to the judge?
I’m sure the prosecutor agreed to it or suggested it, but the judge has the ultimate say. I hate The Oakland Press–shitty newspaper that has a ridiculously fast paywall. I printed it off quickly and for once got around it. It usually shuts me down in a nanosecond. I refuse to subscribe.
I would also think it had to be initiated by the prosecutor.
I sure hope they got additional information on other people from this guy for just a slap on the wrist. What judge would agree to this on it’s own merit? And this is the judge that is overlooking the foster kids in the jurisdiction? Only 5 years in office and he looks younger than the criminal.

As a reader pointed out, I wonder how the police working on the sting and the arrest feel about this six-day sentence. This guy was also in possession of child sexually abusive material. Unless you’re right off the law school farm, you realize this kind of defendant escalates. After the six-day stint in the pokey and attorney fees, he’ll just be more careful not to get caught. THIS is why a voter should never blindly give away their vote to retain a judge, even if running unopposed, without running a Google search on the judge. It’s also why vote by mail is so great–you do your research with the ballot in hand.
It’s also why a committed reporter should investigate and report on how child predators are actually sentenced in Oakland County and why a deal like this would be made (there might be many reasons, but how about some transparency?). Compare the sentences to those the feds get on these creeps. It’s easy to say you are all-in for supporting “the kids” but let’s see some data that back up the statement.
There is another pervert in Oakland County , Barron Dukes (age 30) This is a real name. This guy violated current probation on a drug charge and had actual contact with a real girl age unknown. This is in Madison Heights, Michigan, blue collar. He is facing multiple charges , but wonder how this case will play out ?

Yes, real jail time in a real court room. Oakland County courts are more like the old game show, “Lets Make A Deal”.
Even more interesting is the fact that Steven Stec was Defendant #1 in this case (2023-284703-FH). Similar to another case you posted from a year or so ago, there is a Defendant #2 in this CSC case with the name withheld in the case record (Party Name: None). No mention of this in the article. Defendant #2 was represented by a different attorney than Stec.
