It’s bad enough (you would think) that the stepson of the Ouray, Colorado police chief and two of the stepson’s pals were arrested for sexual assault during a late-night party at the chief’s home while he and the rest of the fam slept upstairs. But all of the copies of the Ouray County Plaindealer with a front page story outlining the alleged assault, charges and ongoing case, were stolen from newspaper racks this week.

You can draw your own conclusions as to who might have been involved in that theft. Factor in the brain power behind the theft from the news racks in the face of an online edition of the Plaindealer, social media, and the fact that the story is now national news. Nicely done.
As reported in the Huffington Post, the Plaindealer is accepting donations to print a rerun of the paper.
Under additional information, “I’m donating because . . .,” I wrote “Because police chief’s stepson.”
Donate if you can.

And, if an average family was involved in a similar situation ……..

It took six months, but Police Chief Jeffrey Wood was finally fired this week. It was determined that he “engaged in poor work performance, violations of state law and other actions inappropriate for the Chief of Police.” Check this guy out: https://www.cpr.org/2024/06/24/ouray-police-chief-fired/. This little bully/bitch police chief was on paid administrative leave for MONTHS. Abuse the badge then get paid while someone figures out how bad you really are. As the article describes, there was probably a lot more. But many in the community did not speak out, fearing retaliation. Some role model for stepson/Suspect No. 1 (age 17 at the time of the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile victim in police chief stepdad’s home). https://cbi.colorado.gov/news-article/arrests-made-in-alleged-sex-assault-in-ouray.
