The last baseball game.

One of my brothers recently told me about this memory. My brother Tim was picked for the all stars game in the summer of 1976. (This photo is from an earlier season). During the regular season, he was an infielder, but he would be playing outfield for the all star game. He was nervous about this, having not played outfield all season.

The Sunday before the game, my brothers and my dad took Tim to the field around the time set for the evening game and hit balls so Tim could practice. The idea was to have the same lighting conditions as the night of the big game. Apparently there was some mayhem, but the practice paid off. Tim got two hits at the game and caught a fly ball. He was thrilled.

It was the last baseball game he would ever play.

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss. Anniversaries never get easier despite the passage of time. My brother Tim died in swimming accident when he was 15 and I was 10, in 1986. The baseball memory you shared is something my Mom calls “bright spots,” that make the darkness slightly less awful. Thank you for sharing it. I wish there was more I could do to help…

  2. Very cool for the bros to help out like that. I still miss him and get more angry as all this legal bs still ensues. Just Damn…

  3. I know words are not enough but I am so sorry you lost your beautiful brother and everything that has happened. Prayers for peace.

  4. Cathy, my heart breaks for you and your family. Please know you are doing important work with your blog. I hope it will lead to justice soon.

  5. No justice since the various higher ups do not want this case solved. Can any of us push for a Tim King baseball field in the Birmingham, Michigan area ?

Heartbreaking Cathy…the loss of Tim and what should have been…what should have been ….had it not been for negligence, egos and lies….
