Thanks to another reader for an update on the fallout in the wake of the July 2025 conviction of former Huron Valley School District elementary school substitute teacher Timothy Daugherty for six counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Survivors have filed a federal lawsuit against Huron Valley Superintendent Paul Salah; former Spring Mills Elementary principal Sarah Bentley; school social worker Kelly Mattingly; the Huron Valley School District; EduStaff, the staffing company that contracted with the district to provide substitute teachers; and convicted pedophile Daugherty.

With the Huron Valley case, the long term substitute “taught” in 12 area schools for years. A girl told a female teacher who did not report the abuse as is required by Michigan law.
Regarding the deputy fire chief charged with operating while intoxicated (OWI) and seriously injuring an 11-year-old girl in June. He has now been officially fired (unanimously) from his position.
Previously Township officials narrowly voted 4 to 3 to keep Dyer in his position as deputy fire chief, despite the crash and the pending conviction.

Update today on the forced labor camp in Michigan and other states.
The Judge denied bond for a self proclaimed church leader (David Taylor) in federal court at a detention hearing. What is different in this case is that dozens of people showed up in support of Taylor, and the court was over crowded. There were so many supporters in the courtroom that they had to gather in front of the doorway. U.S. Marshals had to ask some of them to leave.
