I can tell you, Catherine, that I left MI for MA in 1985, at age 22 – but I’ve never gotten over that creeped-out feeling of expecting a body to appear roadside at any moment, wrapped in plastic or just dumped from a vehicle. I expect the feeling arose in the late 70s, as I’m sure you can imagine. No matter where I’m driving, I can’t shake it.
