Thanks to readers who went through “the funeral photos”–a very tedious job indeed–and got back to me with observations.
Does anyone recognize this guy? He’s wearing a sweatshirt that says LIT–Lawrence Institute of Technology? He and the man standing behind him are in one of the parking lots of Holy Name Church, right up next to the building.
Chat GPT photo enhancement:
Here is an AI photo enhancement of the man standing behind “LIT.” Remember that AI enhancement is not forensic reconstruction and can “hallucinate” details and smooth over or alter facial features. *Thanks to a reader.

My dad might. He taught at LIT during the relevant time period. I’ll send it to him.
Thanks, Meg.
Just sent him an email. I’ll let you know what he says.
You most likely know this from people who have reached out, but, the other day when I looked at the photos you shared, there was a photo of a car with a Lawrence Tech sticker on it too.
That’s a nice catch on your part. I see it in the third set of pictures in the “Timmy King Funeral” set of pictures. Unless there is another one?
Yes. I think so. When scrolling the photos, the binder before the Lawrence Tech sticker photo says: 27-919-77
There is another photo of a man with a beard and dark hair (not as long as some 1970s hair) carrying a grocery bag in the street. It looks like he is walking near the car(s) that were parked near the Lawrence Tech car.
I just learned that I am horrible at describing black and white photos of street scenes. Sorry.
Was there a grocery store nearby and this guy didn’t plan well? Why is he carrying a grocery bag?
There’s also a man with really straight dark hair with a camera and his hair is cut straight across near his ears. He is in a few photos.
In one he is standing next to a woman in a plaid winter coat.
In two other photos he is near a light colored car (no idea what kind of car) with a camera.
He’s wearing a blazer and jeans, but the kind of blazer that a professor would wear with elbow pads.
His hair looks like he’s trying to grow it all one length so it looks like a two-step bob.
I recognize him but I’m not even from Detroit and I was a little kid in 1977.
I have 500 more questions about these photos but—I’ll spare you.
Another thing, there’s a young-ish guy (20s?) in a car with metal rimmed glasses. He is in several photos too. In the car. And out of the car.
The cops did as good of a job as I would have done when I was 14 slapping photos in a photo album bc my mom told me to clean my room and get all the photos off the floor. Any by that I mean: a shitty job. No labels. No Numbers. No sense of direction. I mean, good grief.
Yes I saw the man in the beard next to another picture of the car with the Lawrence Tech sticker. 18th set of pictures down from your 27-919-77 binder.
And I saw one picture of the straight dark hair in the first binder. 7th set of images from the bottom and the man is labeled as #2 next to his image.
I mean, yes I think so re I think that is the only photo with a LT sticker.
You might want to check out my my old next door neighbors the landaus …the son Barry resembles him & he molested me & set my parents car on fire almost killing us … we lived on Gardner in oak park … Barry was 17 & fixed all kinds of cars @ his house hot rods u name it & his father Louis worked for the city… the mother was called the candy lady the raised money for the maxey boys home… they were all criminals & molesters in there & the father Lou dresses as a clown… really creepy!!!!
I am also the person who spoke on the phone with your dad years ago telling him 2 guys in a car told me my mom was in the hospital & I had to get in the car & they would take me & I said no she is not! I just saw her a minute ago & I turned around & ran back down my block & ran to my house & I told my mom & she took me to the police… & I gave a description… they were in a purple blue charger with white hockey stripes & those were the kind of cars Barry landau fixed souped up.. he had young good looking guys over his house hanging out day & night… by the way his mother’s name was joy landau..i really think the family has ties to the case … too many coincidences
Thank you for these comments. I am very sorry you crossed paths with this animal/neighbor.
I’m sure my dad, who trusted the cops way, way, way too much (fuckers) handed this information off and it was never looked at. Thanks, Mr. King. We’ll look into it, don’t you worry. Of course since there is no index to this case and no computerized system for accessing all of the 10s of 1000s of documents in this case, no one would ever check if Barry Laundau or his parents Louis and Joy, were ever spoken to in this investigation.
With that AI enhancement claim not being forensic. I guess that kind of rules out MSP ever looking into this.
I know this sounds conspiracy-theory-esque to most, but the job of the MSP (and the OCSD and anyone else pretending to “solve” this case) is to make sure this case is never unscrambled. Somebody (ies) worked really hard fucking this up back in the day and along the way anytime anyone “made trouble.” If the young detectives working this case think otherwise, wake the fuck up. It looks like incompetence or overwhelm or spread-too-thin, but it’s straight up: Never. Going. To. Solve. This. Go. Away.
They don’t want anyone to consider why the dogs got called off of Frank Shelden, Dyer Grossman, Adam Starchild, H. Lee Busch and Chris Busch, even as the Epstein/Maxwell case reveals a similar pattern. Why all those Wayne and Oakland County dirty, lower level pedophiles without big jobs/big money never had to answer for anything until 2005 when Lawson and Lamborgine were tried for child rape and sexual assault 30 years after the fact. They don’t want anyone knowing that cops were involved in the pedophile rings in Michigan during that sick era, too. Someone(s) made a big investment in keeping this thing too messy to dredge up.
Look at the funeral photos from the surveillance of the kids’ funerals? Too much work. Dig up photos from back in the day of all the fucks potentially associated with these crimes? Now that is much too much work. Show these photos to the survivors of N. Fox Island? Now you’re really asking for trouble . . .
The AI image sure is an an improvement over the original image. They both are very focused on something, and do not appear sad at all.
Excellent points.
I would have expected a blank look, or some sort of downcrest expression. I see neither of these expressions. More of a fascinated look on these two.
