Nina Innsted concluded a 10-year run of her true crime podcast Already Gone with a final episode that dropped yesterday. It features Jenn Carpenter of the Michigan Monsters Podcast and a look at the 1970 murder of Stan Casey, age 15.

What I always appreciated about Nina is that her focus is on the crime victim. Never a narcissistic sleuth, her focus was on justice (or the lack thereof) and not on herself.
Her “Don’t Talk to Strangers” series was a multi-part deep dive into the unsolved Oakland County Child Murders. To mark the 50th anniversary, Nina updated, rewrote, and re-released this powerful series earlier this year.

I think Nina understands that we are not waiting for closure; we are mourning the lack of justice that was facilitated by corruption. As Professor Julie Macfarlane says in her memoir Going Public, A Survivor’s Journey from Grief to Action (2020), IF YOU STAY QUIET, THE SYSTEM IS WORKING. It’s been working overtime in the OCCK case.
