Alexandra (Ally) Brueger was murdered 10 years ago today while out on a run in broad daylight in Oakland County

Another year has passed with no resolution in the murder of 31-year-old Ally Brueger, who was gunned down while out running mid-day on Fish Lake Road in Rose Township, Oakland County.

This coverage from 2023 sure was triggering:

Ally’s case is being digitized and evaluated by the Western Michigan University Cold Case Program.

Tragic and so frustrating.

  1. I’m shocked I don’t remember this. Even more concerned that only ten years ago, the case was mishandled like it’s the 1970s?

I like most things retro or mid century but not murder investigations.

  2. Chronically incompetent investigative agency. Will any AG in our state ever intervene based on 50 years (or less in Ally’s case) of corruption and abuse of authority? Putrid.

    1. I don’t think any MI AG ever will, Erica. I picture the Eternal General, Frank Kelley, who was on Nessel’s transition team, telling her some version of “whatever you do, don’t go near the OCCK case. I never did.” Nessel is said to have told someone off-the-record in recent years that, anyway, she thinks “the priest did it.” Good to know, Dana.

Republican AGs were not going to get sideways with the Potentate of Oakland County, known but never acknowledged by anybody who should have spoken up, to be corrupt. L. Brooks Patterson was still alive when this case started to stink from cover up in the 2000s and died in 2019. His chief deputy from the OCCK era has not yet joined him in the Great Beyond. He is old, old, but known to be paranoid and vindictive. A bad combination.

Officials and agencies around the state have run up against the MSP culture. We have had the incredible misfortune of doing the same.

Prosecutors and crime victims have to rely on some of these fucked up agencies. They never get called out on their bullshit unless it’s some employee retaliation or dirty promotions situation and a union attorney is involved. Then there’s all kinds of press coverage and legislative inquiry.

They are allergic to transparency for obvious reasons. But they know no AG, prosecutor or legislator is ever going to set them straight.

And how many times have you heard about the latest detective to inherit our siblings’ cases–Hey, he’s a really good guy. What, compared to Garry Gray and Dave Robertson?

      1. Does Nessel believe it is a priest because it is low hanging fruit (Catholic Church scandal) or did she have a specific priest in mind?

  3. As I stated earlier, The MSP is closing a crime lab around the Livonia, Michigan area. That will happen this year.

  4. MSP and Troy-hope the college students find something you were incapable of finding. Sad these so-called professionals are anything but.
