  1. I agree with the last statement in that article, figuring out who’s hair it actually was, may be the key thing. I point out that Sloan did not murder his victim(s), so while he’s certainly a very bad actor, he’s not proven to be a killer. He’s also a pedophile or has acted out the role of one, maybe he himself was raped at an early age? Here’s an hypotheses; so Sloan probably frequented some of the peep show porno shops in the area and asked for kiddie porn. Those same people that ran the porn stores were typically mob connected. All they have to do is keep a list of those that ask for kiddie porn. These same clients are already breaking the law by having kiddie porn in their possession. These same clients are also ripe for extortion. The main difference is that whomever carried out the OCCK crimes, is a seasoned criminal on a whole different level than a kiddie porn consumer would typically be. I don’t have to tell you that the main perpetrator in the OCCK case was very direct, deliberate and very diabolical, which is a description that would better fit a mob operative and a very specialized one at that, and probably a homosexual one too, or one with homosexual tendencies. I think that the thing to press for is: Can the DNA information be used to compile a list of candidates that the DNA could have come from? In the Ramsey case, they’ve stated that the unsub DNA was from a male Caucasian. Can a familial profile be made from that DNA? I know that this is technical but to what degree can a further profile be developed? If they can match these hairs, why can’t they develop a greater profile of whom to look for?

    1. There’s plenty of evidence Arch Sloan was gay, I’ll give you that. But later in your comment you say something about the OCCK being a mob operative (?) and probably homosexual too.

I don’t want to call you out here, but I do want to point out what I think is a frequent error. I’m gay and it offends me, but more importantly its a misconception that has probably caused countless detours down dead end roads in this investigation and countless others.

According to Dr. Fred Berlin, a Johns Hopkins University professor who founded the National Institute for the Study, Prevention and Treatment of Sexual Trauma in Baltimore, Md., pedophilia is a distinct sexual orientation marked by persistent, sometimes exclusive, attraction to prepubescent children.

As I’ve been reading more about this case, I keep seeing this and it offends me every time. Luckily, most of the time its in old documents Cathy scanned- I can only hope law enforcement left these beliefs behind in the 1970’s as well.

Pedophiles aren’t gay. More often than not, when they need to put on mask for the rest of the world to see to choose a heterosexual one.

  2. I think many of us that grew up in Oakland County during this timeframe were hopeful for a link and some closure on this case and did not see the 2012 date. I know so many that are haunted by these cases to this day. I pray for answers…if nothing more for the sake of the families involved.

  3. A hair found on Mark matched TWO hairs found on Tim? I never read this before. That is a very clear statement. Why can’t a Y chromosome and an mt DNA test be done on these hairs to definitively identify them?

Cops charge coach, sponsor in league to molest youths
    August 1974
Reports on the arrest of the coach and the industrial sponsor of a Little League baseball team in Fountain Valley, California and the charge against them of improper sexual activities involving the youthful participants in their sports program. 1. Thanks, Mike. Yeah, McKinney has always stood out to me and one of my brothers as a likely participant. Right back to when he was murdered in September, 1977, and there was a gratuitous statement by police in news articles about this chaplain/art dealer’s death that it “was not related to the Oakland County Child killings.” Much more came to light later, but nobody was interested. Google his son and check out his link to the Fox Island Lighthouse Association, or some bullshit like that. I could post for hours about this guy and what has come to light. But the police have never been interested. I believe McKinney, along with a few other predators in Oakland County, were offed as part of a “clean-up” program. Kind of a Dirty Harry deal. Know what I mean? The result is the police don’t want to look into the deaths of people like him, Chris Busch, Chris Flynn, Richard Hojnacki, and others. Never did; never will.

      1. I did google south fox island lighhouse assocation. seriously john mckinney is co founder. Thats too much of a connection to not be relivant. He must have been to north fox island as a kid to have that much interest in saving south fox islands lighhouse and restoring it. Must bring back childhood memories. Wtf!

  5. See also: Portraits in the Snow: The Oakland County Child Killings . . . Scandals and Small Conspiracies, M.F. Cribari, Outskirts Press, Inc. (2011). McKinney was business partners with our good friends who lived across the street (one of Timmy’s best friends), and I believe had connections with a younger brother of John Hastings, a suspect brought to light by Ms. Dagner.

  6. They don’t say what color the hair was they found in the (Red?) Bonneville. Was the hair red? They found white dog hairs. Did they determine the breed? Was it a cross between Shepherd and Huskie? I’ve spoken to Oakland County, MI FBI, and friends who are officers. I’ve given them this info and a whole lot more which I’ve given to you as well. My suspect died about 6 months ago. I was told the police questioned him. I sure hope they took his DNA. I know I can’t find Census’ I was previously able to get on him while doing genealogy research.

  7. Is the wanted poster with the profile of the suspect in this article the one “Lilly” claims to be R Hojnacki?

    1. I am not sure, Seeker–but as of March 1977 there was only one profile drawing and it was on the wanted poster and in the newspapers and on the t.v. news.

      1. Of all the pictures and sketches on the internet not one of them is Richard Hojnacki. Especially not the person sketched for the “WANTED” poster and profile. R Hojnacki had very light brown hair, almost blonde with piercing blue deep set eyes. More to come soon. I am through fictional Chapter 5 but want to finish the book prior to any further comments.

  8. When was Arch Sloan paroled from Pennsylvania? I’ve read in multiple places it was in 1975, but I’m looking for a more specific date.

      1. Updating my own comment. The FOIA document on Sloan (Orig-Report-Ext-Documents-Final.pdf, page 25 of 35) state that he was paroled September 19, 1975. Parole was in effect until 1980.

Must have been a typo in the book.
