Ontonagon

December 6, 1976–A prominent Western Upper Peninsula attorney, unnamed of course, but said to be a friend of Michigan Lt. Gov. James Damman, and the local prosecutor, was accused of multiple instances of child sexual abuse. This article in the Bessemer, Michigan, Pick & Axe expresses frustration with charging authorities’ lack of concern in child sex abuse cases and names then Houghton County Prosecuting Attorney Sterling Schrock and then MI AG Frank Kelley as foot-draggers/disregarders in cases involving this attorney.

You will need to increase the % view to read the article “Equal Justice?”

Michigan has a very long, sordid history of this bullshit. And Ontonagon–well, let’s just say this article addresses only the tip of the organized child rape iceberg in that town, which I believe reverberates to this day.

Prosecutors like Sterling Schrock and even MI AG Frank Kelley weren’t about to touch that shit. Kids versus prominent attorney; guess who wins that one in 1976 (or even sometimes today)?

Yet as four cases of child abduction and murder involving captivity of between 4 and 19 days occurred downstate between February 1976 and March 1977, the Michigan State Police would not open their minds to the possibility of connections with a pedophile ring, let alone a ring that would involve white collar freaks, as a motive for these crimes.

No, the OCCK had to be a lone, diabolical person who left no evidence whatsoever and drove a blue Gremlin. A boogie man who need never be named because, trust us, the killing will stop and the communities will eventually forget the victims.
