We’ve known better since 2016, when the long-ranking Speaker of the House–a person second in succession to the presidency if the wheels fall off for the president and vice president–admitted to abusing an unspecified number of boys and was sentenced to 15 months (yes, months) in prison. Months because his arrest was based on financial crimes, not sex crimes.
Big, bad Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert was exposed for his crimes against young boys when he was a teacher in Illinois via a hush money case. He had been paying one of his survivors to keep him quiet. Back then, these types of crimes were frowned upon by the feds and sometimes even actually prosecuted.
This POS died today at the age of 84. Same age as Arch Sloan when he died this summer.

This bullying, imperious Speaker was responsible for “The Hastert Rule,” an informal governing principle in the U.S. House of Representatives stating that the Speaker of the House will not schedule a floor vote on any bill unless it has the support of a majority of the majority party. One of my brothers came up with the real Hastert Rule:
