Based on all of the color sketches in the film at the link below(thank you to the previous poster for posting this link), the killer/abductor had blue eyes (from 5:08 to 5:20). Who had blue eyes and who didn’t? After doing research,I have found that Christopher Busch, John Hastings, Arch Sloan and James Gunnels all had blue eyes. Both Ted Lamborgine and Gregory Greene had brown eyes. This is important because Greene did look somewhat like the composite drawing.
1) Could that picture be of Busch? Although one showed a slight beard I think the emphasis would have been on Busch’s weight for a drawing. He tipped the scales at about 260lbs. That’s a lot of weight for a guy no taller than 5’9.
2) Could it be of James Gunnels?I don’t think so. He had more of a baby face and not as old a person as the drawing indicates.
3) Arch Sloan? Arch was about 35 years old at the time of the abductions. Yes, I think it could be him; especially since he was so good at luring boys into his car based on his past pedophile cases. But,why would he lure the girls since he was only into boys and why would he start killing at that point? I noticed Tim’s hockey jersey being from “Car Parts,Inc.”.Did Sloan have any connection to this connection as he was an auto repairman?
4) John Hastings? Yes,it could very well be him. He looks like pretty much like all the composite pictures although I’m not sure about the beard growth in one of them.
Was John Hastings officially cleared by DNA and his passport showing he was out of the country at the time of some of the abductions/drop offs? (Helen believed there to be two passports and one a fake)
My take on Hastings is he was a local recluse who is/was strange and followed the case closely. For someone who did follow the case closely, drawing maps of the drop off points wouldn’t be too much of a stretch. Hastings was known to be weird and you know he liked to yank Helen’s chain and get her all spooled up. Helen always focused on the detail of Jill Robinson’s books but again, that would be knowledge available to someone who followed the case. I don’t think either Hasting resembles any composite sketch. Lamborgine was known to wear wigs and we drew hair on his bald mug shot and it’s a dead ringer for the one composite sketch with the thick side view hair that looks like a wig. #JusticeNow
I don’t believe Hastings was ever “officially cleared.” If you read the FOIA documents, there is a transcript of the interview of Hastings by Det./Sgt. Cory Williams (Livonia PD) and Det/Sgt. Garry Gray (MSP). The detectives push Hastings a little–hey, you seemed like a smart guy, yet you blow town to the Atlanta area after the OCCK crimes and start driving a limo. No real explanation. Some weird shit went down at Brother Rice (Catholic High School he attended in Oakland County)–what was that all about? He minimizes. They call him on his answer that the first task force spoke with him back in the day because the task force “talked with every man in Oakland County.” (Hardly.) When the detectives tell him that they are not fucking around because a person who had no reason in the world to lie, came forward after reading Helen’s story online to say he overheard a conversation between John and Helen about these murders at an Alpena Big Boy restaurant supporting Helen’s position. At the time, the man had no idea what these two were talking about. He did not know either John or Helen.
Old John doesn’t have a real good answer for that, but he wades into the idea that he was just spinning tales to Helen in order to get free coffee and sandwiches, and the detectives let him run with that. They suggest that since he said he would have no problem with another polygraph test, he better show up or that is not going to look good. He is polygraphed a few weeks later and the results are whited-out. There are notes indicating that he got upset at some point during the exam and came back to GBI to discuss his reaction.
The passport was discussed in the notes of the 1992 investigation into John by B’ham police when he was living in Alpena. As most people who followed Helen’s forums know, she wrote a fair amount about Hastings having two passports and him creating and possibly selling falsified passports. The passport alibi is ridiculous on its face in this case, as there were four different abductions, times of captivity, and body dumping. Unless he was in Europe during ALL of the relevant time periods, he could not be ruled out in my opinion. B’ham PD pushed him pretty good as is evidenced in the file notes in the FOIA response, and called him on a lot of his bullshit. But in the end, I think Helen and Lt. Skiba’s involvement made police less inclined to tie up any loose ends here. And passing a polygraph? Please . . . So what. Like Busch and Greene?
And it is just as likely that when word got out about the 1992 investigation into John (the second one–the first being in 1977), all it would have taken is a phone call to B’ham along the lines of “this is a waste of time. Leave it alone.”
So this man has been investigated three times. Was he cleared? His DNA did not match the DNA the MSP has on file in this case. Again, so what. They have DNA from hairs on Mark and Tim and in Sloan’s car. The hair on Kristine was a mtDNA match to Gunnels. No DNA on Jill. All you can say is that no one law enforcement has tested so far matches the “magic hairs” from the boys and Sloan’s car.
Law enforcement has thus far not been able to link up the child pornography business in OAKLAND COUNTY to Mark, Jill, Kristine or Tim. It would only make sense that the people in those circles knew or probably knew or heard what happened to those four kids.
No one has talked. But I think it involves GM and other executives, as well as men in their 20’s in Oakland County (some affiliated with Brother Rice, some affiliated with Wayne State University) who were trafficking and conspiring to traffic children for this purpose. I think children of GM employees were used for this purpose and that other kids were abducted. Some came home and others did not. I have posted a redacted email about this (one of three I have received from different people). I will post it again in a separate post. THIS SHIT IS RELATED.
The answer that makes the most sense to me is that John Hastings and one or more of his brothers were involved in this child pornography ring. Not as pedophiles, but as traffickers. John knows or has a good idea what happened to the OCCK victims. He is lying his ass off when he says he never knew Chris Busch or H. Lee Busch. He took more of the story over and took “more credit” when he captivated Helen with his stories. Freak. It is on him, and him alone, that police investigated him in 1992 and again after 2007. As I have said many times, he either lied to Helen or to police. A ton of taxpayer money was spent investigating this POS because of his own actions. I used to look at him as either crazy or a crazy killer. I think the answer might be this: Maybe human trafficker or human trafficker/participant in these crimes. Let’s not forget; John and his brothers blew town after all this happened in 1977. That can toll the statute of limitations, as we saw with Lamborgine and Lawson. And there is no statute of limitations for murder.

They found for two of the victims pubic hair DNA ( not a match for Sloan) that matched hair found in Sloans car.
Sloan may well know who the killers are…He probably loaned the car to at least the guys that abducted the boys.
My suggestion… why not get woman in the family’s of all suspects both prominent and obscure to submit DNA?
To include by the way the law enforcement officers (( mother/sister/grandmother) that was witnessed at the 711…

i met gunnels in 70s. i know a lot about him and sloan. but no one in the investigation ever listens. we could solve this in 5 seconds, but we know they dont want too, very sad about that fact
