I tried not to post about this, but I have to. WHAT AN ASSHOLE:
Voters in Detroit should make sure 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King is permanently removed from the bench the next time he is up for reelection. No more field trips to his gulag/courtroom. Sending this guy to charm school will do no good. Wake up voters, and don’t return this man to the public payroll.
Speaking of people who should not be returned to office, perpetual Oakland County Sheriff Mike Bouchard should be retired by the voters, if they have any sense at all. This news today really bummed me out because it is so disappointing and so consistent with the way his office has done business:
I’ve heard undercurrents about the sheriff’s office response and their hypocritical chest-puffing in the wake of the mass murder.
This office seems to always be afraid of transparency.
In 2021 I learned that an assistant prosecuting attorney for Jessica Cooper was tasked with moving their files in the OCCK case to Bouchard’s office in order to avoid compliance with any other FOIA requests that might be filed with that office after those filed by my dad, WDIV and the Detroit Free Press. This probably took place in or around the summer of 2012. This action by Cooper’s OCP office and that of Bouchard was taken to thwart FOIA laws. It was an ethical violation at a minimum.
This APA (who may still work there) should have been fired in 2021 after it was discovered the files were “missing.” As I have noted more than a few times, when I filed a FOIA request with Bouchard’s office, the online response came within 15 minutes: We don’t have any such records. https://catherinebroad.blog/2021/07/23/worlds-fastest-foia-response/ . This is a lie and it makes me believe the people who have told me over the past four-plus years that the office has withheld evidence in the OCCK case. It seems they don’t “like” the state police. Working well with others doesn’t seem to be a strong suit with this agency.
He is a Brooks Patterson acolyte. Get rid of him and clean house in Oakland County of law enforcement from that era who have enjoyed decades of cynical, hypocritical game-rigging that favors lack of transparency, resistance to reviewing mistakes and abuse of the awesome power held by law enforcement in our society.
Enough. If you won’t be transparent about cases involving the murder of four pre-teens walking the streets of your county, or the murder of four teenagers and injuries to others inside Oxford School; if you won’t closely examine what could be improved, what good are you?

UPDATE: The Detroit Free Press reported on September 24, 2026, Judge Kenneth King successfully completed his “training” (retraining?) and is now open for business in Wayne County traffic court!! Congratulations, judge! Your pension is preserved and you live to rule from on high once again. All you have to do is keep your arrogance and anger in check. I can’t think of a better place to test your retraining than Wayne County traffic court.

In a “From the Editor [of The Detroit News]” email this morning:
“[Reporter] Jennifer [Chambers] has covered Oxford since the first reports of a gunman reached our newsroom. She heard the whispers, asked questions and got tips. ‘I decided the best way to get at it was to go to the fire chief in Oxford and ask if there was a delay in the response,’ she told me. ‘He said, “What took you so long to get here?” Nobody had asked him about it.'”
WHAT TOOK YOU SO LONG TO GET HERE?!!!!!!!
“Last night [9/5/24] the Oakland County Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized an independent After Action Review of the emergency response to the 2021 Oxford High School shooting. This came after our Jennifer Chambers reported on Aug. 14 that two Oxford-area fire chiefs say their EMS crews were dispatched late. Here’s why an independent review had not been conducted . We don’t write news stories to advocate courses of action, we write them to inform the public so that elected officials can do what they believe is best. If, however, our reporting provided commissioners with information that inspired last night’s vote, then we’re pleased to have been the ‘troubler of the public conscience,’ as Fred Newton Scott wrote regarding our mission as journalists.” Email, The Detroit News.

Of course the judge offered to mentor her. They all do that. This is the kind of SICKO who thinks he can abuse a child and then personally make her all better by developing a personal and private relationship that child. We know all about this playbook.
Agree Carrie. Watch this POS double-down: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhR7MKybDRY
Breaking news, Wayne State University in Detroit just ended their relationship with the judge. At least these issues are in the Detroit media.

I have info on a potential cover up in the Oakland County Prosecutors ofc from 1980
I removed your full name from the comment; please contact me at OCCKTruth@protonmail.com.
From the report:
“We sincerely hope that this incident does not undermine our longstanding relationships with local schools.” —Chief Judge William McConico
For any person, especially one who is a parent, this not only undermines … it destroys any trust local schools—and, obviously, parents and their children—should have in the courtrooms.
That judge should be one no more. (Get him out—because he is dangerous—and get him out for the remainder of his life.)

Regarding Mike Bouchard: The “Wikipedia” page on him reports he graduated from high school in 1974, so he was apparently born in 1956, and has been a political figure since at least as far back as 1986: “Elected to the Beverly Hills Village Council, 1986”.
Well said Cathy. 🙏
Bouchard probably does not anyone to remember that he was on vacation when the shooting occurred. He had to rush home to grab some glory for himself during the press conferences. Then he can continue to be in the lead cars during all the local parades. That is his main function.

8-24-24: “A Free Press investigation found evidence that suggests embattled 36th District Court Judge Kenneth King routinely engages with commenters on the court’s YouTube livestream — including in the middle of court proceedings.
At least once, he appeared to miss a lawyer’s objection while monitoring the online chat.
On another occasion, the court’s account expressed an opinion in the chat about a defendant and case five days before determining there was enough evidence to send it to trial.
Two judicial officials with some oversight powers of courts told the Free Press a judge commenting in a live chat during a hearing was inappropriate. And a national judicial ethics expert said a judge expressing an opinion about a case is problematic. Even reading comments during a hearing could be improper, if posts reveal details about the case not presented in court yet.”
I’ve had many cases in front of him.
Judge with an attitude.
From the Detroit Free Press, Sunday 9/1/24:
“From the moment we at the Free Press first started looking into the interaction with King and the teen in mid-August, we knew there was more to this story.
Almost immediately after writing about the initial encounter – where King had the teen handcuffed, put in jail garb and threatened with spending time behind bars – we started getting tips about the judge. One of them became this piece with colleague Darcie Moran, about how he regularly engages with commenters in his YouTube live stream, at times in the middle of hearings. Our reporting also showed King’s superiors already warned him about his use of the video platform, but were unaware he’d appointed a private person to moderate the chat.
Now, he’s undergoing weeks of training, remains the subject of an investigation at his workplace and has also been sued in federal court.
Judges exercise immense power in our society, having a direct and massive impact on many lives. But generally, they face far less scrutiny than other elected leaders – especially at the local level.
We take this watchdog role at the Free Press very seriously, but we could not pursue it as vigorously without the support of our readers and subscribers. Thank you for your interest and commitment to quality local journalism!
There are multiple story ideas still in the works, so keep an eye out for more articles in the future.”
Been saying this for years and years: Judges exercise immense and sometimes dangerous power and the voters don’t spend a minute of thought checking the box to reelect them, term after term. Same with prosecutors. Same with sheriffs.
No amount of training (“charm school”) will fix what is fundamentally wrong with this judge. His lack of discretion, compassion and the utter absence of judicial demeanor is absolutely disqualifying. The voters should ensure this man is not returned to his throne on the public payroll. Because odds are, the court system he works for will eventually claim he is rehabilitated and allow him to sit in judgment of people. Whatever the workplace investigation involves, would it surprise anyone if this man is inappropriate with court staff?
I was happy to see this girl’s mother retained an attorney and filed a federal lawsuit. I hope they stay after this man until he is forced into private practice, where he will do less harm–if only because the odds of him ever getting a big client base are very slim. I hope the Free Press stays on the story. The judiciary is rarely held accountable.
Watch dog role. We’ll see.
And last week, Oakland County Probate Judge Kathleen Ryan, in more and different trouble after her 2021 case for domestic assault and battery of her boyfriend was dismissed. https://www.fox2detroit.com/news/oakland-county-probate-judge-under-investigation-inappropriate-relationship.
