In late January 1977 Christopher Busch, an admitted prolific pedophile, was interviewed after his arrest in Alma, Michigan and again at the Flint Police Department. He told police and then Oakland County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Richard Thompson and one of the OCP investigators that he victimized boys while participating as a “big brother” at the Big Brother Organization in southeast Michigan. No one investigated his claims. L. Brooks Patterson, Richard Thompson and police betrayed these boys. They swept it under the rug. They should carry the same shame that Boy Scouts of America carries.
Not only were the OCCK crimes never solved, sex crimes against children, including child pornography, in and around Oakland County were swept under the rug for decades, lest some connection to or reminder of these unsolved child murders surface. When you hear a politician in that area say “it’s all about the kids,” ask them just how the fuck that works?

Hey Cathy. You know what my job is. Just ended a visit with a girl who was assaulted; police did not believe her and she was treated like a criminal.
How does this continue to happen? Why can’t police stop treating victims like shit?
She told me about a TV show where women were arrested for making accusations. I will get the name for you.

Sounds like a documentary that needs to be watched, no matter how unpleasant. Especially for those that grew up in in Oakland County and the surrounding area.
“It always comes back to the kids.”,
That is something I’ve read in the past. It refers to a current Oakland County elected official that has been involved in the OCCK case from 1977 through today. An official that grew up in the same area as an OCCK victim, and has contributed nothing in assisting in solving the case.
The documentary on people who reported abuse and got in trouble is on Net Flix, “Victim/Suspect”.

This question is in regards to the Birmingham records and files you obtained in the last year or so and recently posted here not too long ago. I was wondering if anyone searching for old notes and records ever tried to obtain similar from the late Jerry Tobias? It was my understanding that he was still investigating this case right up to his death on his own dime. Helen told me stories about him and that he was very close to finding some things OCCK related and she never knew if he actually found them. I won’t go into anymore detail here. Perhaps another wild tale Helen story or maybe there really was something behind it? I guess, it’s anyone’s guess much like what some of the notes represent that we just viewed I won’t state anymore but it’s been a mystery where his notes would have ended up and if there is a chance they are still around somewhere.
This weekend, Detroit is celebrating 40 years of the Cass Corridor
The Cass Corridor has been around a lot longer than 40 years, though you’re supposed to call it Midtown now. What you’re referring to is the Dally In The Alley, held in the northern Cass Corridor, near Wayne State. South of there is where the red light district was and Bob Moore’s house and bike shop.
This is so triggering for me but I watched the documentary and seethed and, I may have yelled at the screen but avoiding these things isn’t helpful. To be aware is to elevate the safety of those around you. Thus, I’ve written about it before, but I reported to more than a few people in the BSA world my concerns about one, Chuck Bickerstaff, only to be rebuffed with phrases like, “Oh, that’s just Chuck! He loves kids.” Well, Chuck was sentenced to 80 years in prison because “Just Chuck” was, indeed, a trusted adult monster. He was Executive Director of a three county area for BSA. It took awhile – I reported him in and around 2000 and in 2007 he was sentenced NOT due to anything I tried to report.

Boy Scout leader kept diaries about sexual abuse

A former Boy Scout leader documented his relationship with underage boys in a diary going back several years, a lawyer who represents a Chana youth who filed a suit against the man said today.
The attorney, Christopher Hurley, of Chicago, said authorities found the six diaries, totaling 120 pages, in the Dixon home of Charles “Chuck” Bickerstaff, 56. Hurley said he has not personally seen the diaries, but that he confirmed their existence with law enforcement authorities in Lee County, where Bickerstaff is in jail on $3.5 million bond, awaiting trial on multiple counts of child molestation involving at least two victims.
Hurley said one of those victims is the 16-year-old youth he represents in a lawsuit against the Boy Scouts of America, the Blackhawk Area Council of the Boy Scouts, and Bickerstaff.
The Boy Scouts had no immediate response to the suit, announced today in a press conference held in front of the Boy Scout headquarters in Rockford.
The lawsuit said the abuse of the boy began in July 2006 and continued for nearly 10 months.
According to the suit, the BSA “knew or should have known” that Bickerstaff was dangerous, failed to adequately investigate allegations of misconduct involving Bickerstaff, and failed to adequately supervise Bickerstaff’s activities.
That last paragraph blows my mind. They damn well should have known. I could not have been the only person in 3 counties who saw what he was about but reading other documents, person after person in the BSA all say they never saw any behavior they would consider inappropriate. And the blinders stayed in place. After all of that, the BSA had “no immediate response”.
