That footage is still hard to watch .
There’s still zero explanations concerning Hastings failed polygraph. There’s still unanswered explanations concerning evidence with Gunnels. These two are still walking the earth freely. Time is ticking with these two freaks
What is even a bigger mystery of the Failed Hastings Polygraph itself is how any trace of it has completely disappeared from their records with no explanation.
Must be very telling for someone from MSP to completely bury all test results & conclusions from it including the original FOIA papers that redacted the shit out of it!
It is maddening, Inquisitor. Those redactions were calculating and some were illegal. I would love to know who they consulted for their redactions. And the much more recent, but missing Hastings polygraph information–those fuckers didn’t even try for the “hey, we can withhold poly results under state law,” they flat out said they couldn’t find any of it. There needs to be a state version of the federal Homicide Victims’ Families Rights Act in Michigan. The MSP and the OCS are both obstructionist police agencies. This case is Exhibit A for that conclusion.
Cheap help was hard to find even in those days. With what did leak thru through was absolutely unbelievable once it was uncovered. You have to really wonder how that happened with the redacted process they had. What I remember, It was in a different section and wasn’t expected. Almost everyone missed it the first time around when the docs were first reviewed. Wish the news would have picked up on that instead of the pages that made Helen look foolish instead. (Scott Lewis report on the first FOIA papers revealed)
Someone knew what they were doing with the redactions of polygraphers’ names on the Busch and Greene files. But they missed the Gray notes concerning the Hastings polygraph in Georgia. They also gave considered thought to putting multiple photos of my dead brother in the response. The documents provided by Cooper had signatures and dates WHITED OUT. That was easily missed, too. Every time I revisit the FOIA documents, I find something new. And those are just the documents these agencies deigned to provide.
I believe the first FOIA section were dealing with Helen for some odd reason. I always wondered why and it seemed like it was a message of revenge to you since you were tied to Helen someway. GG was camped out on Helen’s website for hours and seemed to know all that was going on and got very upset over matters. GG’s antics were intentional and seemed similar to Helen’s in some regards although very questionable for a professional that was on the case. I believe the only reason why the conclusions of Georgia polygraph were missed in the redaction process and some of it leaked thru was it was in a different section and was probably missed by GG altogether. GG probably really had to cover for himself afterwards about the polygraph after the docs were released to your dad and destroy anything that traces back to it. I sure wish someone in authority could go back and trace whatever is left if anything, and get to the real truth over this polygraph test. It may shed some light on this case.
They fucked with us because THEY COULD. If any case needs complete organization and digitization, it’s this one and I would trust students from the criminal justice programs at WMU and MSU before I would trust in-house staff. How did that revenge party go for you and Dave, Garry?
So true. Every time I revisit any of these documents, or the investigation notes, I seem to learn something new. It could be based on new information that I learned since I first read it, or a name that meant nothing to me the first time I read it, or possibly re-reading it with another focus/point of view.
The ol boys club. I hope they did not make it to the pearly gates but are in limbo.
Liars club.
47 years isn’t it? But makes no difference to how wrong the investigation has been and become
I just don’t understand how it’s 50 years but it needs endless attention so good to see media interest
I believe it was a group of paedophiles and I believe Frank Shelden was fully aware if not involved- and that priest John Robert Thwaytes dna needs investigation to rule out the suspicion his criminal history and shocking psycho profile plus fake passport plus facial semblance to the drawing of suspect arouse in my mind
Hi Ade. It might as well be 100 years. Thwates’ DNA would help, IF the state lab would acknowledge all of the evidence needs to be tested by a third-lab to determine if there is any usable unidentified DNA. Their shitty partial samples have proven worthless for identification.
Shocking that there was something in the Detroit media about this case.
It was only in the news because the station was celebrating 75 years on the air. Then they sensationalize it by saying it has been 50 years. They also congratulate themselves for continuing to investigate it.
You’re right G-Man. They could hardly overlook this serial crime spree in Oakland County when recounting their journalistic bio. Compiling information and going through old video footage does not constitute “investigation.” That’s a book report/video report. Get a cop or prosecutor from then or now to talk on camera, and not their tired “open investigation, can’t comment” BS. Now THAT would be news.
They did a video on the January blizzard of 1978. They showed a picture of Busch, and an interview of Patterson in this video. Now revisit the story how an Oakland County Prosecutor went to Flint in that blizzard to clear Busch. Such dedication by our government officials! (Sarcasm)
Unfortunately anyone from the prosecutors office won’t volunteer. Anyone that’s been there for decades is too old and “doesn’t remember”. The rest are too young and taking direction from the old timers. This whole thing is sad. My heart goes out to the family. Having an unsolved homicide in my family is the one of the worse things to go through-especially when it’s the cops who have prevented it from being solved.
that story was factually wrong. They need to put this case front and center!!!!!
There has to be something they can test but bouchard’s ol’ boys are holding back LBP’s dark secrets.
Yes.
Shame on Dana Nessel and Karen McDonald for not getting involved. They could push this if they wanted to.
Totally agree! Feet need to be held to the fire as to why the MSP won’t presently test what remaining evidence they do have, when DNA specialist have offered to do it for free.
Was Paul Johnson’s living sibling ever tested? Does what he claimed Tim King said to him during captivity truly sound like what Tim would say?
Why did the Oakland County Sheriff Department never shared that info with the MSP ? Can’t Wayne County follow up on that since it involves TK?
Exactly! Feet need to be held to the fire as to why what evidence still exists is not getting tested. The MSP can’t claim financial reasons since out of state DNA Specialist have offered their services for free. Hmm pansies, whatcha hiding?
Has Paul Johnson’s living sibling ever been DNA tested? Come on Wayne County, this relates to TK, you’d have jurisdiction. With what Paul Johnson claimed Tim said during captivity, does it sound like Tim’s mannerisms and things he may have said? Why did the Oakland County Sheriff Department hide all that & keep it locked away from the MSP and task force for that matter?
Is there a current Wayne County Investigator working the case?
Not that I know of.
I was reading about MSU’s affiliation with MSP’s cold case unit. Apparently there is a scoring matrix to determine what cold cases get opened. Larry Rothman from MSP seems to be involved. Cathy, have you ever interacted with him? His email is RothmanL@michigan.gov if that is helpful at all.
Thank you! I will contact him.
