“Real time updates”

Here’s some customer feedback, Col. Gasper, from me and my brothers since my brother Tim can no longer speak for himself. Have your two detectives assigned the OCCK case respond to our email requests of February 14, February 21, March 3 and April 5, 2023, requesting a meeting to discuss where the investigation into our brother’s murder stands. If they are too busy to acknowledge my emails, I doubt it is because they are busy with the OCCK case.

As I explained, we just want a dialogue. There is nothing to do to prepare for the meeting. We have repeatedly offered to work around their schedules.

And here’s another piece of customer feedback: When a cold case homicide gets passed on every few years to a new detective or two, they should contact the victim’s family member(s) to let them know who the contact is and to at least pretend that their family member has not been forgotten in dusty old files. The contrast between the OCCK case and other cold cases being handled by your agency is quite stark. https://abc57.com/news/western-michigan-students-michigan-state-police-partner-to-solve-niles-cold-case; https://wsbt.com/news/local/special-report-how-roxanne-woods-murder-was-solved-35-years-later.

  1. Well, as I have always said, they obviously know who the killer is and are hiding something/someone.

  2. I am appalled by the behavior of the Oakland County Police department. I remember the events very well. Can we make a petition requesting a reopening of the case? Can we petition the governor?

    1. Margaret, here’s what is so corrupt: The circle works just as Patterson and Thompson hoped it would. All four cases get offloaded to the Michigan State Police, after Patterson washes his hands of the whole mess in early 1977 and the task force gets “disbanded” in 1978. Over the years, then decades, if someone calls the Oakland County Sheriff, the local police departments, the Oakland County Prosecutor? They get sent to the MSP. What does the MSP do? IF they respond, they simply say “open investigation, can’t comment.” Repeat for almost five decades. The FBI won’t do anything–hey, the MSP and the OCS are the lead agencies on the case. Contact the OCS-they apparently don’t even keep a record of phone calls in this case; just allegedly send all of the information to the MSP.

The MSP will tell you the case is open. That they are actively moving the investigation forward. How? Well, that’s a secret. If the press contacts them for an update, their media defense runner just says: Nothing to report, get lost. No interviews. Black hole.

As for the Governor, I have never written her. After the AG’s office totally ghosted me in 2020 after I provided all kinds of documentation and an had an hour long Zoom meeting with an assistant AG and Marney Keenan (who also had information to present)–nothing. Not a single response, even to say–ran it by the big boss and she said we aren’t wading in.

Back to the Governor. A survivor of the Frank Shelden and other pedophiles in a very active child sex ring in Michigan wrote one of the most compelling letters I had ever read to the Governor a few years ago. No response. Nothing. You have to be a pretty cold-blooded staffer to deep-six that letter without a “thanks for contacting us!” He did, however, somehow end up on a mailing list and received a Christmas card from the governor’s office that year.

Here’s a thought–I don’t think any of those agencies want to deal with the MSP on this case. See how it works?

I picture Patterson, Thompson, and probably their chief investigator, being pretty pleased with their plan to offload these cases to the MSP, where they knew they would eventually die of neglect every single subsequent year. Robert Robertson and Joe Krease knew that as long as no other suburban white kid was abducted that the communities would be eager to put this all behind them. And it didn’t happen again. Wow, go figure. Close the books and forget about this incredible FAIL.

Later Jessica Cooper and Paul Walton from the Oakland County Prosecutor’s office made sure we couldn’t go to them for help. Instead, they fucked us over. I am quite sure they destroyed records in the OCCK case when they got voted out of office. Neither of them should have a law license.

No one, with the exception of a commander at the Birmingham Police Department (in 2021) said anything like what should have been said in the decades after these murders: I can’t change the past, but how can I help? He, too, had been blown off by the MSP and the local FBI office when he approached them about a tip.

There have been books, podcasts and a documentary. Two big articles in the local newspapers (2010, 2012). Nothing moves the dial. Nothing.

These hypocritical members of law enforcement will “work diligently” to retest evidence in other cases, partner up with third party labs, search genetic genealogy databases–but not in this case. Oh no. They will squawk all day about how the mtDNA in certain hairs they tested was consumed during testing and therefore now of no use; how a Y-str sample developed in Kristine’s case is too fragmented and incomplete to yield answers. But they won’t test the kids’ clothing or belongings in this case for DNA. That’s four sets of clothing, shoes, boots, a backpack, a blanket, a skateboard. They need to test all of this evidence with a high-level, third-party lab and report the results to the public. Although I have no doubt this evidence was mishandled and improperly stored, they still owe these four kids that much. So forgive me if I don’t buy this sheriff’s bullshit. He knows he can just pass the buck in the OCCK case. (Whew!)

It’s working out just as those two white, privileged, incompetents planned it in 1977. Allowed them to have their shining careers, lots of cash, and doubtful any pangs of conscience. TEST OR RETEST THE REMAINING EVIDENCE IN THIS CASE, REPORT TO THE PUBLIC AND STOP WITH THE SMOKE AND MIRRORS. Maybe those still alive who know what the hell happened here will luck out and too bad, so sad, no DNA can be developed from the evidence in these four cases. But ignoring this, even as you pat yourselves on the back for your great cold case solves in other cases, is a pretty obvious tell. Yet no one can get to the MSP to get this done. It’s sick.
