8 questions to ask before your child starts a summer program

The Link Chart prepared by Dr. Moore (https://public.flourish.studio/visualisation/5154207/ ) shows the breathtaking sweep of child predators operating in and around Oakland County and elsewhere in the 1970s. Some are obvious dirtbags. Many are not. How much has changed in the intervening 47 years? It’s difficult to know.

Here is a summer safety checklist prepared by the U.S. Center for SAFESPORT.

I found the summer safety list at Stop It Now!, founded in 1992, whose mission is to prevent the sexual abuse of children by mobilizing adults, families and communities to take actions that protect children before they are harmed.

A child predator can be a police officer, baseball coach, team photographer, an executive, a priest. There are resources available now to help guide the conversations with kids so they are aware of these issues well beyond “stranger danger.”
