I am going to start this post with two quotes. The first is from an unidentified author in a book called “Morals and Dogma of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry (1871 & 1905):
“We cannot understand the moral Universe. The arc is a long one and our eyes reach but a little way; we cannot calculate the curve and complete the figure by the experience of sight; but we can divine it by conscience, and we surely know that it bends toward justice. Justice will not fail, though wickedness appears strong, and has on its side the armies and thrones of power, the riches and the glory of the world, and though poor men crouch down in despair. Justice will not fail and perish out from the world of men, nor will what is really wrong and contrary to God’s real law of justice continually endure.”
The second quote is from former Vice President Hubert Humphrey on November 1, 1977, at a dedication of the Hubert Humphrey Building dedication: “The moral test of government is how that government treats those who are in the dawn of life, the children: those who are in the twilight of life, the elderly; those who are in the shadows of life, the sick, the needy and the handicapped.”
These two quotes are important considerations before reading what will follow.

If the video starts midway, go back to the opening with Walter Cronkite. In news footage, Robert Robertson, commander of the OCCK task force in 1977 and 1978 explains that investigations had uncovered a huge number of pedophiles in the metro-Detroit area. He explains “[w]e knew we had a problem but we didn’t recognize it as such.”
Wow. Pretty big miss, as you will read over the next posts. The FOIA documents you have read thus far hint at the involvement of multiple pedophiles operating in the concentric circles around these child murders. Fifteen years ago (15!!!), Wayne County confronted the dark times of pedophelia and child pornography back in the 1970s. Richard Lawson rattled some cages when he tried to save his sorry skin after being arrested in 2005 for the 1989 murder of a Livonia man. He gave Livonia police the name of Ted Lamborgine.
Lawson was convicted of the murder of Exavor Giller and sentenced to life without parole. He gave police plenty of information relating to his contention that Theodore (Ted) Lamborgine was the Oakland County child killer. Lamborgine and Lawson were both convicted in Wayne County for numerous sexual assaults against a total of 14 boys. Lawson died in prison and Lamborgine will never see the light of day as a free man again.

So let’s back up on the FOIA documents to 2005 after Lawson has tried to dime Lamborgine for the child killings. The story is set out very well below and will take a few posts to complete. It is slow going because due to the number of victims of these monsters in Detroit and surrounding areas, I have had to make additional redactions.
This is nightmare material. Quite literally. But you will also read about real courage and unbelievably hard work.
Names continue to surface. Multiple people may well have been involved in or have knowledge of. these child abductions and murders. No DNA match has yet been made to hair evidence found on two of the victims. Pedophiles will offend for the rest of their lives if given the chance. One thing that surprised me was the cops taking a look at Gary Smentowski.
A fellow going by the name of Les used to push him as a suspect . Seemed like hot air but apparently the cops took it seriously.
I believe Les used to say Gary worked at a Catholic church and had access to priests clothing.
Les was quite vulgar and rubbed people the wrong way but he was different than a lot of the folks that have ” suspect that look good for the case” .
He stuck to this case only and didn’t try to make his suspect good for every unsolved murder from the time when Jack the ripper was having his own way in Whitechapel up until today’s breakfast.
I guess along with this data release that lends some credibility to his tales.
Hi Cathy, quick question: is there any DNA that has been submitted, or tried to have submitted, that you never got results on? I know that many have had buccal swabs done, or LE tried to get buccal swabs, but I didn’t know what the results were. I know there are those 2 hairs that a match hasn’t been found for yet, and didn’t know if the answer could be sitting in a lab somewhere.
KP, you raise a good point. You would think the MSP has a list of all the people they have DNA on in this case and that they were all cross-checked when the additional hair evidence was later found and the miraculous discovery was made that hair evidence on the boys matched hair evidence in Sloan’s car.
KP, I’m not sure where the DNA testing stands. In Children of the Snow, law enforcement refers to something like 14 or 17 people whose DNA they have but does not match the evidence. You are right, there is a chance something is sitting there waiting for comparison. The hair evidence needs to be tested by the newest, most sophisticated testing to yield autosomal level DNA. The hairs from the Mystery Man apparently have not matched any of the many DNA samples obtained as described in these documents. We need the hairs retested and the use of genetic genealogy if the suspect is not in any criminal data base. Other names have surfaced, too, so that may yield a match. I was impressed at how many DNA samples were obtained. They just haven’t gotten the hit they need YET.
